Value: £900,000 |
Client: London Buildings Plc |
Construction: 1995 - 1997 |
The Alaska 800 building forms the fourth side of a square set within the Alaska development at Bermondsey, South London. The developers brief asked for the creation of 20 two bedroom apartments arranged on four floors for first time buyers. The other sides of the square are formed by a white rendered art deco building and 3-5 storey Victorian brick warehouses. Our building brings its own personality to the square. There are two distinct relationships apparent in the façades, the elevation facing the garden and Curtis Road has buffed brick and generous openings to provide the living rooms with maximum daylight and views. In contrast the white render façades is set back slightly and uses ribbon windows to create a more private atmosphere for the bedrooms and kitchens.
