This project was the result of a limited competition where we proposed an extension which would double the amount of floor area of a redundant Nat West Bank. The site is beside the Lloyds Insurance Building by Richard Rogers and required a design which would be sympathetic with both the Victorian Bank and the iconic Lloyds building. We produced an innovative method of air conditioning with chilled beams wedded to the structural beams. They are disguised with draped stainless steel fabric to give a varied ceiling profile.
The exterior is an assemblage of existing and new construction designed to frame and enhance areas over Leadenhall Market.
